Single Change Paint in use on Chemical Tanks

Since 1st December 2008, chemical substances manufactured in Europe in amounts of 1 tonne per year or more have needed to be registered with the European Chemicals Agency in Helsinki, under the REACH directive. REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals) is the system for controlling chemicals in Europe.

Aim: to provide a solution to assist manufacturers in ensuring that chemicals and dangerous substances are stored and handled in a way that minimises the risks posed by those substances and which limits peoples’ exposure to them and to meet regulations such as CAD (Chemcial Agents Directive) and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).

Solution:a chemical company based in Germany uses a custom SC447 Thermal on their tanks which are situated outside. If the substance in the tanks exceeds a temperature of 447ºC, the Paint changes colour to indicate that there is a problem with the tank. We are not aware of the exact chemicals that are manufactured by this company, however, we are led to believe that they are hazardous and as such, any changes in temperature are critical.
